Exploring the Body, Connecting the Mind: Introducing Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy

There’s a wealth of information inside our bodies: Unresolved emotional and physical experiences store in our cells hidden from awareness; blocks related to mental or emotional tension become aches and pains. There is a link between sensations in our bodies and issues in our lives. Yoga therapy is an invitation to explore the richness of this connection, as well as experience its beneficial impact on physical, mental, and emotional health.

Both experienced and novice yoga practitioners find it helpful to go beyond the basics with a trained yoga therapist who can facilitate an inward journey through reflective dialogue and supported postures. With this support, the yoga therapist helps the client to understand what’s happening in their body and therefore what’s happening in their life.

In this experiential workshop you can use Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy hands-on techniques to:

Body And Soul Fitness: An Inward Journey to Well Being
This powerful and evocative workshop examines the timeless query: If overweight and overeating are the problems, why aren’t exercise and dieting the solution?

This workshop will guide you in discovering your own answer. Then using the insights gained, you’ll develop your own personalized action plan for health and well being. Even if weight and overeating are not the issues, you’ll leave the workshop with the confidence and skill to move forward with a strategy, and a deeper commitment and connection to yourself.

When You Don't Know What to Say: Reflective Dialogue for Laypersons and Professionals
Most of us are not professional psychotherapists, but in our spiritually evolving world, our clients, patients, and friends are asking us to give guidance that goes far beyond the body and way past the mind—to the place of the mind-body connection. I have learned from many years as a teacher that reflective listening is both a skill and an art, and it can be taught.

You’ll learn active listening and reflective feedback techniques, and a mini-integration formula to help your patients, clients or friends sort out their issues and come to their own empowered insights.

Take-A-Break Yoga
Fitting the ancient and healing practices of hatha yoga into a contemporary lifestyle can seem like just “one more straw…” But with Coffee Breaks: Perfect Yoga for an Imperfect World, JJ’s audio yoga CD, the task just got easier. On the CD are seven 10-minute yoga and meditation breaks. The CD and the gently experiential workshop help you learn how to turn a 10-minute coffee break into the healthiest time-out you’ll ever take!

Living by the Numbers: What Numerology Can Teach You about Yourself
Numerology (using numbers as a forecasting system) is more science than speculation in reality. Pythagoras originally codified the numerology methods used to foretell outcomes and predict behaviors in contemporary practice. As a contemplative art, numerology can be used to help you understand why you are the way you are, your destiny, your life path, how your soul operates and how your personality shows up day-to-day. Come see how your numbers add up and what they say about who you really are.

The Mind-Body Metaphor: Witnessing the Wisdom of Spirit
This program explores mind-body concepts through experience, demonstration and discussion. Discover first hand how yoga therapy can help you to relax, de-stress and feel nurtured. Break through limiting patterns and beliefs. Listen to your body’s wisdom.

Nutrition 101: Figuring Fats, Counting Carbs, and Planning Proteins
Jovially trek through the maze of heart-healthy nutrition guidelines. Discover, identify and reduce hidden dietary fats; detect misleading food-label advertising; and determine heart-healthy nutrient balancing.

Fitness: Fact or Fiction
Learn about different types of exercise and why they are all important. Determine your best exercise choices and intensities based on your personal goals. Transform obstacles to fitness into self-empowerment.

Meditation & Breath: Spiritual Inspire-ation
A class geared toward beginners, this program teaches a few different types of meditation and breathing techniques so that you can find at least one style that suits you. You’ll develop a deeper sense of, and appreciation for, inner attunement; and you’ll never take another breath for granted again. Time is allotted for teaching, discussion, practice and reflection.
